Project Description
HUTTEN
Hutten, founded in 1929, is a privately owned family business where owner Bob Hutten invests a lot in healthy and sustainable food. Nowadays, Hutten is one of the largest catering companies in The Netherlands with an annual turnover around 90Mio and 2.000 employees. Our markets are company catering, event catering, care/cure catering and hospitality services. A few years ago, Hutten wanted to come up with solutions for the large problem of food waste. We started processing wasted vegetables steams. We’ve invested in a new factory: the No-Waste Factory (in dutch: De Verspillingsfabriek). Within De Verspillingsfabriek we roughly process €2Mio of wasted vegetables into new products for Food Service and Food Retail.
Role in FOX:
- Supporting “Upcycling of plant-based food side streams using mild processing” activities
- Sharing experiences around processing vegetable side streams
- Testing food processing in our factory
- Testing new products in commercial environments (company restaurants, hospitals, events)
- Evaluating food safety of processed food
- Developing concepts for consumer with end-products
